Employees put together 347 packages for Southeast Europe and Ukraine
Packages contain food, hygiene items and toys for children and those in need
Schaeffler provides standardized boxes, storage rooms, pallets, forklifts and 1,000 euros in fuel money
For the 19th time in a row, Schaeffler is sending Christmas packages with the Johanniter Christmas truckers to those in need. The voluntary campaign was again organized this year by the Herzogenaurach works council. This time, employees packed a total of 347 packages, which are now being transported by the “Christmas trucks” of several shipping companies to Romania, Albania, Bosnia, the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine. The Johanniter will be responsible for the distribution on site together with partner organizations. Some packages are also donated to food banks in Germany.
“We are pleased about the long-standing commitment of our employees, who have once again diligently put together packages. We would also like to thank the supporters of the campaign at the plant: without the boxes, pallets provided and help from the logistics department, the campaign would not be possible,” says Norbert Lamm, works council member and one of the organizers.
The packages have been carefully put together according to a precise packing list and are filled with basic food items such as rice, flour, sugar and oil, as well as hygiene items such as toothbrushes and shower gel. For the children, each package includes cookies, chocolate and a toy.
Schaeffler employees outside the Herzogenaurach location can also take part in the campaign by packing “virtual” packages via a website. The Johanniter procure the contents of the 141 virtual packages donated so far locally. As in previous years, the plant and personnel management at the Herzogenaurach location supported the campaign with 1,000 euros in fuel money for the Christmas trucks.
